His younger brother Huzaifah, 17, will attend a trial at Warwickshire Under 19.<\/p>\n<p>Born to Indian parents Yasmeen and Ayub in Abu Dhabi, the two siblings have come a long way since their formative years at Zayed Cricket Academy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/2017\/08\/29\/merrylanders-hanzalah-and-huzaifah-khan-looking-to-take-the-next-step-up-on-english-cricket-ladder\/sp-cricket-academy-1\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3028\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3028\" src=\"http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Sp-Cricket-Academy-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Sp-Cricket-Academy-1.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Sp-Cricket-Academy-1-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Sp-Cricket-Academy-1-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They represented both the academy and Merryland International School before joining Ardingly College on cricket scholarships in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Hanzalah, a wicketkeeper-batsman, is now a second year pupil at Loughborough and Huzaifah, a left-handed top-order batsman who bowls both left arm seam and off-spin, continues his higher education at Rugby from September.<\/p>\n<p>In his first year at Ardingly, Hanzalah\u2019s season got off to a bright start. They won the Sussex Inter-School Twenty20 Cup where he finished as the second highest run-scorer with an average of 40.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first season at Ardingly went really well,\u201d said Hanzalah, who suffered a fractured wrist in his second year that ruled him out for half of the following season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a blessing in disguise, though, as I got to spend more time for my Advanced level examination and got exactly what was required for a place at Loughborough, which was two A\u2019s and a B.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Loughborough, I attended two trials. The first was for MCC Universities, which was the top tier, and the AU Universities first team who play in the second tier.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hanzalah didn\u2019t make the MCCU 15-man squad but was included as a reserve, and was selected for the AU first team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe MCCU have called me for a trial again in October and with both last season\u2019s wicketkeepers out of the side the chances look good,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/2017\/08\/29\/merrylanders-hanzalah-and-huzaifah-khan-looking-to-take-the-next-step-up-on-english-cricket-ladder\/sp-cricket-academy\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3029\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3029\" src=\"http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Sp-Cricket-Academy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Sp-Cricket-Academy.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Sp-Cricket-Academy-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Sp-Cricket-Academy-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I\u2019m not taking it for granted with some of the best players from six universities set to attend.
