The MIS Book Club is back!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the age of social media, declining reading habits among students are a growing concern. The constant pull of short-form digital content is steadily reducing their interest in books and sustained reading. The MIS Bound & Booked Society which is the MIS Book Club exists to revive the culture of reading and to help students rediscover the joy and value of books.It is a student-led platform that develops responsible, empathetic, globally aware and confident young people through reading, leadership and service.<\/p>\n

A student core team supports the functioning of the club and provides students with authentic leadership opportunities. The club develops socially responsible leadership by placing real responsibility in students’ hands. Members apply for and are shortlisted into core team roles who\u00a0 plan the club’s activities and initiatives. This enables students to move beyond being participants to becoming active contributors and decisionmakers.The core team also provides an opportunity for students to develop collaboration, organisation, responsibility and initiative\u2014skills that contribute to socially responsible leadership.<\/p>\n

So, this academic year we\u2019re again looking for students who want to be part of the Book Club \u2014 whether you\u2019re interested in taking on a specific role or simply want to be a member.<\/p>\n

Choose the role that best fits your interests, strengths, and what you think you can contribute to the club.<\/p>\n

Roles:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Secretary:<\/strong> Keeps the club organised by recording meeting notes, attendance, plans, and important information and keeping all important information documented at all times.<\/li>\n
  2. Treasurer: <\/strong>Manages the club’s budget, keeps track of expenses, and helps organise any financial needs for events or activities.<\/li>\n
  3. Event Coordinator:<\/strong> Plans and coordinates Book Club events, reading sessions, and special activities.<\/li>\n
  4. Book Selection Coordinator:<\/strong> Helps choose books for the club to read, collects book suggestions, and makes sure there’s a variety of genres and interests.<\/li>\n
  5. Discussion Coordinator (Meet to Read):<\/strong> Leads book discussions and prepares questions, topics, and activities that get members talking about what they’ve read.<\/li>\n
  6. Content & Video Coordinator: Comes<\/strong> up with ideas and helps create videos, reels, and other content to promote and document the Book Club.<\/li>\n
  7. Graphic Design Head: Creates<\/strong> posters, graphics, displays, and other visual materials for the Book Club.<\/li>\n
  8. Regular member:<\/strong> Takes part in reading sessions, discussions, activities, and events without having a specific committee responsibility.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
