{"id":6768,"date":"2025-02-02T14:41:45","date_gmt":"2025-02-02T10:41:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/?p=6768"},"modified":"2025-10-06T10:38:57","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T06:38:57","slug":"federal-system-in-the-uae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.merrylandinternational.net\/newsite\/2025\/02\/02\/federal-system-in-the-uae\/","title":{"rendered":"FEDERAL SYSTEM IN THE UAE"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"su-spacer\" style=\"height:20px\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><div class=\"su-youtube su-u-responsive-media-yes\"><iframe width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jVAehb0JPlk?\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture\" title=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>FEDERAL SYSTEM IN THE UAE<\/p>\n<p>Federation Objectives<br \/>\nThe Federation aims to maintain its independence and sovereignty, safeguard its security and stability, defend its existence or the existence of its member emirates from any act of aggression, and protect the rights and responsibilities of the people of the Federation.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Authorities in the UAE<\/p>\n<p>Federal Supreme Council<br \/>\nPresident and Vice President<br \/>\nThe Cabinet<br \/>\nFederal National Council<br \/>\nFederal Judicial Authority<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities of Federal Supreme Council<br \/>\nThe Federal Supreme Council performs the responsibilities outlined below:<\/p>\n<p>Formulating the general policy on all matters concerning the Federation under the Constitution, and considering all matters that could lead to the achievement of the objectives of the Federation and the common interests of the member emirates.<\/p>\n<p>Endorsing the various Federal laws prior to their issuance, including laws of the annual general budget of the Federation and the closing accounts.<br \/>\nSanctioning the decrees on matters that by virtue of the provisions of the Constitution are subject to the ratification and approval of the Federal Supreme Council.<\/p>\n<p>Ratification of treaties and international agreements through decrees<\/p>\n<p>Approving the appointment of the Prime Minister of the Federation, accepting his resignation, and requesting him to resign upon the suggestion of the President of the Federation.<\/p>\n<p>Any other relevant responsibilities stipulated in the Constitution or in the federal laws.<\/p>\n<p>Resolutions of the Federal Supreme Council on substantive matters are made by a majority of five of its members provided that such majority includes the vote of the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.<br \/>\nHowever, resolutions of the Council on procedural matters shall be issued by a majority vote. Such matters are defined in the by-laws of the Council.<\/p>\n<p>The Cabinet<\/p>\n<p>The Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates is the Executive Branch of the federation, handling the execution of all internal and external affairs related to the federation as<br \/>\nper the UAE Constitution and the federal laws, under the supervision of the President and the Federal Supreme Council.<br \/>\nThe Cabinet, consists of the Prime Minister, two deputy prime ministers, the ministers of the UAE, and an active General Secretariat.<br \/>\nThe Prime Minister calls for convening of the Cabinet, administers its discussions,<br \/>\nand monitors the activities of ministers.The Prime Minister presides over the Cabinet Sessions<\/p>\n<p>The Federal National Council (FNC) is the consultative council, the parliamentary body of the UAE. It has 40 members.<br \/>\nThe number of seats assigned to each emirate is<br \/>\nproportionate to its population as follows:<br \/>\nAbu Dhabi &#8211; 8 seats<br \/>\nDubai &#8211; 8 seats<br \/>\nSharjah &#8211; 6 seats<br \/>\nAjman &#8211; 4 seats<br \/>\nUmm Al Quwain &#8211; 4 seats<br \/>\nRas Al Khaimah &#8211; 6 seats<br \/>\nFujairah &#8211; 4 seats<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities of Federal National Council<br \/>\n\u2022 passing, amending or rejecting federal draft laws<br \/>\nincluding financial bills<br \/>\n\u2022 examining the Annual General Budget draft law and<br \/>\nthe draft law of the final accounts<br \/>\n\u2022 discussing international treaties and agreements<br \/>\n\u2022 discussing general subject pertaining to the affairs<br \/>\nof the Federation and offering recommendations<\/p>\n<p>Federal Judicial Authority<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Judiciary is one of the five federal authorities of the UAE Government.
