STUDENT COUNCIL – Interns for 2021

For the first time in our prestigious institution, Merryland International, an internship program has been inaugurated by the student council, in order to provide a constructive opportunity for ambitious and aspiring students to unleash their talents, allowing them to pursue sought-after slots in article writing, video editing and graphic designing.

The selection process consisted of two rounds. The first being the application itself, where interested students eagerly typed out their personal details, why they believe they would be fit for such a post and a sample of their work to show off their passion, all of these done through an online form. Later, the student council meticulously assessed each candidate and carefully short-listed a few to progress to the second round.

The second round, which was the interview process, further assessed the applicants: their punctuality, responsibility and ability to work with a team. Questions were curated and were specific to the goals the student council had in mind for this internship program, as they determined who was fit for these posts. The candidates were scored based on the interview by the panel of judges; final winners chosen, and the results finally released for the students who waited, holding their breath.

Thus, it was decided. The teams are as below:

Article Writers:

Graphic Designers:

Video Editors:

All the interns have their own responsibilities to take on for the rest of the year, coming up with creative schemes and providing new and unique ways to convey information and ideas to the whole of the student body. The article writers will be the central communicators who will be writing prompts for posts as well as articles to deliver paramount news, accounts and data. The graphic designers will be the face of this program as they will collaborate with others to produce designs worthy of the events and occasions that are to take place through the rest of the year, and melded with the interns’ expertise in IT, they are the best for the job. Furthermore, the video editors will be contributing to the whole creative process by creating media worthy of the rest of the content that goes along with it.

In a mentor-mentee system, the interns have been divided into Senior Interns (Grades 11 & 12) and Junior Interns (Grades 8 & 9). This is supposed to not only aid the juniors in developing their skills, gaining knowledge in their field as well as having more responsibility, but it also helps the seniors acquire experience in helping and training others, skills that are guaranteed to be useful in all their bright futures.
