Dear Parents,
Against the backdrop of the threat that the novel corona virus is posing, Merryland is committed to exercising caution without creating undue panic. This is being achieved by strictly adhering to guidelines from ADEK and the Department of Health to ensure a safe and clean learning environment, and by remaining vigilant in identifying potential illness in students and staff.
As a precautionary measure and according to ADEK instructions, we are suspending all activities involving mass student gatherings, with effect from today, i.e. March 01, 2020
- Trips, events and school competitions inside and outside the school, and between schools
- School assemblies
- Afternoon classes for all grades and co-curricular activities like drama and sports.
- Any activities in the swimming pool area
- Participation of students in any conferences or events (inside or outside the country).
All students or staff members with signs and symptoms (sore throat, fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc.) are strictly required to stay at home and no sick leave certificates will be required.
We would like to assure parents that cleaning and disinfection occurs throughout the day and we have stringent disinfection and sanitary procedures in place to cover all areas of the school, including classroom and common areas. Additionally, we are reducing the number of toys and surfaces that students are exposed to, particularly in KG and primary. Students and school staff have also been advised to wash/sanitize their hands frequently, especially before eating and after using the washroom.
Please refer to the circular for parents from ADEK and feel free to contact us if you have any concerns or suggestions. The health, safety and wellbeing of our students is of our utmost priority, and we will continue to update you as the situation develops.
