Circular for Parents about the Reopening of School
We hope that you and your family are in good health. We miss our children and the in-person interactions that we have had with them. But we know this is a serious health concern and we are obliged to follow the regulations and requirements of the UAE government as they make the hard decisions regarding protective protocols in response to this virus.
Following the announcement by the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) on the reopening of schools, we would like to reassure parents that we have put in place a comprehensive safety plan that exceeds recommended guidelines. This is to ensure that Merryland remains a safe and secure school for all students and staff.
When Merryland re-opens for the academic year 2020-2021, we will have all students of Grades 10, 11 and 12 attending full school on a daily basis. However, students from KG to Grade 9 will come to school on alternate days. The following section outlines the process of the reopening of the school.
The school will reopen as per the scheduled date on Sunday, 30 August 2020.
As a safety measure, we are re-opening in two phases:
First Phase- Week 1- August 30
In the first phase of reopening, all students of Grade 4 to 12 will return to school.
Mode of learning- Alternate days learning at school
Timing: 08.00 am to 02.30 pm
Grades 10, 11, 12
Mode of Learning- Every day face-to-face learning at school
Timing: 08.00 am to 02.30 pm (30th and 31st August)

(Online classes for KG to Grade 3 will start from 30 August 2020 irrespective of the reopening date for each phase)
As per the regulations on social distancing, students of each class will be divided into two Groups (A and B), and will come to school on alternate days for face-to-face learning. On the days they are at home, distance education will take place. Your class teacher will inform you about your child’s group before the reopening of school.

Parents are encouraged to use their private vehicles for transporting their child(ren) during Term 1 and as long as these regulations are in-force. However, we know this isn’t possible for everyone. ADEK has approved the use of school buses but with strict capacity and seating guidelines. As such, there is a significant reduction in the number of available seats with our transport provider. Parents who want their children picked up and dropped off by the recommended transport provider should register their names with Zenith Transport to avoid exclusion. (contact: Mr. Paul -055 8140850 /Mr. Rameez -055 7373235). Once limited seats are exhausted, there will be nothing the transport company nor the school can do to accommodate additional students.
Parents who use their own vehicles to drop off and pick up their children must remain in their vehicles. We will circulate additional information about dropoff and pickup protocols at a later date. Due to ADEK / MOE regulations, parents are not permitted to enter the school campus during school timings (inclusive of dropoff and pickup times). Please note that entry into the school campus will be strictly restricted to school staff and students at all times.
ADEK has mandated that all students will have to provide a Covid-19 negative test report before attending school. We will provide a full update regarding this before the school reopens.
We are also attaching herewith the guidelines for parents from ADEK. In case of any questions, please feel free to call us on 02-5519626 or email us at email@example.comPARENTS_GUIDE_REOPENING_POLICIES
