INTERNATIONAL ASTEROID DISCOVERY PROJECT

Students from Merryland International School participated in the International Asteroid Discovery Program–an Internationally Accredited Citizen Science program by NASA and IASC. This project was aimed at discovering asteroids under guidance from experts. In this programme students received 28 real time datasets from the telescope: The Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System (Pan-STARRS) located at Haleakala Observatory, Hawaii, US. Students from grades 4 to 12 were divided into 9 groups and three students Reyansh Kumar Sharma of Grade 8, Agnes Maria Isac of Grade 8 and Saif Abu Sawa of Grade 6 were awarded special certificates for their preliminary discoveries on asteroids.
