STUDENT COUNCIL

About the Student Council

The Student Council of this year stands out as an exceptional achievement, marking the first time in the school’s history that the entire leadership and organizational efforts have been carried out  by students. From the meticulous planning of events to the thoughtful decision-making processes, the students have demonstrated remarkable independence, creativity, and leadership abilities. This milestone reflects the institution’s deep confidence in its student body, entrusting them to lead with their own vision and initiative. The outcomes speak for themselves, as this student-led council has not only maintained the high standards of previous years but has also brought in fresh perspectives that have resonated positively with the entire school community.

Established in 2000, the Merryland Student Council has long served as an incubator for nurturing exceptional leaders within the school. The primary aim of the Council is to encourage student involvement in a variety of pursuits beyond their academic commitments. Drawing inspiration from our dear founder, Mrs. Susheela George, the Council has adopted “Disciplined, Devoted & Dedicated” as its official motto, symbolizing the core values that guide its initiatives.

Members of the Student Council devote considerable time to planning and organizing a range of events and activities for the student body throughout the academic year. Frequent meetings are held among the members to explore new and innovative ways of creating an engaging and enjoyable atmosphere for the students. The dedication of its members is reflected in the string of successful events conducted each year, such as the highly anticipated “Vibes” competition series—a beloved annual singing competition that has become a favorite for many.

At the end of each academic year, the senior members of the Council pass on their responsibilities to their junior counterparts, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership. The subsequent year begins with a rigorous democratic election process to appoint new members, providing aspiring student leaders an invaluable platform to exhibit and further develop their leadership skills. In this way, each year’s Student Council is infused with passionate individuals who contribute fresh ideas and solutions.

This year’s remarkable achievement is a direct result of the exemplary opportunities and guidance provided by our dear  founder, Mrs. Susheela George, and our  chairman, Mr. Aaron Grandon. Their unwavering support has allowed the Student Council to thrive as a self-sustained entity, led entirely by the students themselves, who continue to make the institution proud with their dedication and achievements.
