Rules & Procedure
Please read the “Election Procedure”, “Rules & Regulations of the Campaign” and the “Roles & Responsibilities of the Student Council Members given below.
- Election Procedure:
- Apply for nomination via this form by the 10th of September 2023.
- Receiving a confirmation email regarding your nomination before the 12th of September 2023.
- Candidates will send their pre-recorded speech that will be broadcast from the School control room.
- Email your pre-recorded speech to the Student Council for broadcasting. This speech must be of the best quality and follow all guidelines which will be provided in the email confirming your nomination.
- Elections will be conducted on the 21st of September 2023.
- Rules and Regulations of the Campaign:
- You will be allocated 1 minute to deliver the pre-recorded speech to the student body via the school broadcast system on a date chosen by the nominating committee.
- You are not allowed to disrupt classes, and campaign during teaching hours. Campaigning is restricted to only break times.
- Campaigning can only be done if you are an approved nominee by the nominating committee. Upon approval of your nomination, you will be sent an e-mail on the address you have provided by the nominating committee stating the details.
- Banners or charts can only be placed in specified areas such as the grille in the quadrangle.
- You are not allowed to lure voters by promising them fake/uncertain things.
- You cannot bribe students for votes by means of any material or immaterial items.
- You must not be found using the elections as an excuse to miss out on classes.
- Your speech must not contain any foul language or defamatory clauses and it must be pre-approved by the nominating committee via e-mail after your nomination has been confirmed.
- Your logo must be approved by the nominating committee before you begin campaigning with it.
- Any nominee found in defiance of any of the aforementioned rules may be subject to rejection by the nominating committee.
III. Roles and Responsibilities of the Student Council Members:
- Student Council Members (hereby referred to as “SCMs”) are required to hold the highest values as they are expected to be role models for the younger students.
- SCMs shall be the lead representative of the Student Body in dealings with MIS faculty and with the parental community.
- SCMs will be fully accountable for all their activities within or outside school campus.
- SCMs will be required to draft and submit proposals to the principal for any activity they would like to conduct in the school.
- SCMs are to directly report to the Student Council Teacher in-charge Mr. Harish.
- SCMs should be aware that their position is a very prestigious one and they must do their best to live up to the standards expected of them.
- All SCMs must abide by the Rules of the Prefecture and must follow and obey the hierarchy.
- SCMs are to hold regular meetings and to maintain activities throughout the academic year.
- SCMs must only keep the interests of the student body in mind while making decisions and should not be focused on pushing personal agendas.
- SCMs are to carry out supervisory responsibilities and must seek the intervention of teachers in serious matters which cannot be handled by them.
- SCMs must plan and assign duties to prefects weekly and prepare a duty list. SCMs must also maintain a check-and-balance on the prefects.
- SCMs are responsible for ensuring school rules are followed in the campus and discipline is maintained throughout the academic year.
- SCMs are expected to speak for all students in the school and support and prepare activities that encourage and aid the learning of pupils as well as extra-curricular activities.
- SCMs are expected to regularly listen to woes and worries of the student body and act accordingly to overcome their problems.
- SCMs are responsible for serving in various committees to plan school events such as school carnivals, newspaper activities, clubs or other organized events.
- SCMs are expected to be punctual, polite, modest and should have a positive attitude.
- SCMs are to represent the school at sports activities, parent events, academic functions, promotional activities, fundraising activities, charity events and social events.
- SCMs are to lead, monitor and assess the progress of each member of the prefect body individually and hold workshops to train newly inducted prefects.
- SCMs must reprimand students indulging in any wrongdoing(s).
