I want to share some simple ways you can take care of your body and mind. Your body is growing quickly, your brain is learning new things every day, and you’re making lots of friends. Let’s talk about how to keep you strong, smart, and full of energy!
Eat Natural Foods (Not Too Much Processed Food)
Do you know what processed food means? It’s food that has been changed a lot in a factory. Think about candy, chips, sodas, and fast food. These foods often have lots of sugar, salt, or oil, but not much of the good stuff your body needs.
Instead, try to eat natural foods. These foods come from the ground, trees, or animals, without too much extra stuff added. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, eggs, chicken, and fish are all great examples.
Helps you grow: Healthy food gives your body the building blocks it needs.
Boosts brain power: Natural foods help you pay attention in school and remember what you learn.
Keeps you strong: Good food helps your muscles and bones grow.
Protects your health: Eating natural foods gives your body the tools to fight off germs.
Keep Moving. It’s Fun and Good for You!
Moving your body every day is super important. Playing tag, riding your bike, jumping rope, playing soccer, climbing on the playground, or dancing in your room all count!
When you move your body:
- Your muscles and bones get stronger.
- Your heart works better.
- You’re happier. Moving can make you feel less sad or worried and more full of energy.
Sleep: Your Body’s Superpower
Sleep is like your body’s “repair shop.” When you sleep, your body and brain get a chance to rest, heal, and grow. That’s why most kids your age need about 9–12 hours of sleep every night.
Here’s how to get good sleep:
Go to bed at the same time: Your body gets used to a healthy routine.
Shut down screens: Turn off TVs, computers, tablets, and phones at least an hour before bed. The light from screens can trick your brain into staying awake.
Do something calm: Read a story, listen to soft music, or talk with your parents before bed.
Taking Care of Your Feelings
It’s normal to feel sad, worried, or upset sometimes. Everyone does. But you don’t have to keep those feelings to yourself.
Talk to someone you trust: A parent, teacher, or friend can help.
Be kind to yourself: It’s okay to have big feelings. They don’t last forever.
Be kind to others: When you smile, share, or help a friend, you make them feel good.
This makes you feel good, too.
You Can Do This!
Being healthy isn’t about being perfect. It’s about making small, smart choices every day like eating natural foods, moving your body, getting good sleep, and caring for your feelings. These habits will help you grow strong, stay happy, and shine bright!
