December 20, 2020
Dear Parents,
We are happy to announce that The Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has stipulated that all students can return to school from January 2021. In this regard, please note the following:
- Students from Grades 6, 7, 8 and 9 can attend face-to-face learning if they wish to.
- All students above the age of 12 who are physically attending school in January 2021 must be tested for COVID-19 before attending face-to-face classes. The test must be done on 29th December 2020 at the Al Wathba SEHA Drive-Through Screening Center between 08:00 AM and 07:00 PM. (https://goo.gl/maps/vebHNbvjxUstJfW56)
- Students of Grades 10, 11 and 12 who have already taken the COVID-19 test and who have been attending school for face-to-face classes or exams in 2020 need to be tested for COVID-19 again.
- Generally, students of Grades 7 and below would not have attained the age of 12, while it is expected that students from Grade 8 and above are at least 12 years old. Students below 12 years are exempt from the COVID-19 testing.
- Testing is free at the SEHA designated Al Wathba Covid testing center for students of Merryland using the school code K-9201. Students should take their Emirates ID for the test.
- Alternatively, parents can opt for a paid Covid-19 test at public or private testing centres or hospitals at their own cost, but the test must be done between 21 December and 31 December.
- Students who opt for face-to-face learning will be permitted to attend school only after they have sent the COVID-19 negative test report to the class teachers latest by 2 January 2021.
- Online learning is still an option for students (KG to Grade 12) who do not wish to attend school physically.
Thank you for your co-operation.
